Seated Shiatsu, or 'Amma', working on the cranium, neck, back, thighs, arms and hands eases and stimulates various acupuncture points situated along the body's meridians.
With its roots in Japan Shiatsu has quickly become known worldwide and seated shiatsu has been adapted to suit the needs of the business world.

So what is Shiatsu?
The Japanese minister for health care and well-being offers this definition:
"Shiatsu therapy is a form of manipulation administered with the thumbs, fingers and palms – without the use of any other instruments, mechanical or otherwise – applying pressure on the skin to correct internal imbalances, help and maintain health and treat certain ailments."
Using understanding of the links between body and spirit Shiatsu can help to eliminate physical tension and ease stress, fatigue and emotional shocks.
Shiatsu is practised while fully clothed and lying on a table or on the floor.
Amma, or seated Shiatsu, is also practised while fully clothed and seated in an ergonomic chair. It is particularly adapted to help businessmen and women who wish to find a way to better cope with stressful situations at work. A session normally lasts around 15 minutes.
Our staff are qualified and certified members of the French Shiatsu Federation.
Study on stress
Carried out by the INRS, Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité (National Institute of Research and Safety).
Consequences of stress on health:
The physiological mechanisms involved in dealing with stressful situations can, in certain conditions, cause great damage to the body (…) and can cause a person to manifest one or more of the following symptoms:
- Physical symptoms: Aches (headaches, muscular pain, joint problems) trouble sleeping, loss of appetite and trouble digesting, breathlessness, sweating etc.
- Emotional symptoms: Heightened sensitivity and nervousness, panic, crying, fear, excitability, sadness, malcontent etc.
- Intellectual symptoms: Disruption or loss of concentration needed to carry out tasks (often incurring errors and omissions), difficulty in taking initiative or making decisions etc.
- Behavioural symptoms: Modified eating habits, violent or aggressive outbursts or behaviour, social isolation (introversion, difficulty co-operating) etc.
These symptoms can carry grave repercussions and can cause the sufferer to seek methods of calming or motivating themselves (coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, calming tablets, anti-depressants etc.)
